KNS photog Adam Brimer shot this painful series of photos during the Tennessee/South Carolina game in Columbia today.
In the heat of the moment I didn’t realize what I had here. I thought I was just photographing a tackle with a potential fumble. It wasn’t until after the play when Marcus Lattimore appeared in agony that I realized something was up.
After the trainers and medical staff came to the field I began to review my sequence of images from the play. Again, I didn’t see it as it happened, but once I began to review the photos I saw Lattimore’s leg in the fourth image you see above.
After viewing this series of photos I immediately thought of the earliest sports injury I had seen of this magnitude: Joe Theisman. 1985. Monday Night Football. Skins vs. Giants. I was 12 and I thought I might throw up.
Many in the blogosphere have since made the comparison between Lattimore and Theisman (and then Miami Hurricanes running back Willis McGahee).
Regardless, the sports world and her fan base are thinking of Lattimore and his family tonight.
those first few pictures tho ugh! poor guy
Holy hell, that 4th one. Eek. Seriously, I feel for this guy. Missed half of last season, about to miss the rest of this...
Prayers for Lattimore.
