It’s a topic I’m all too familiar with: Internet trolls and nasty commenters. I’ve written a previous #trending column about it, and monitoring comments on knoxnews.com is one of my many tasks here at the News Sentinel.
So it’s only natural that I reacted so strongly to this particular post: Kiss Annoying YouTube Comments Goodbye With The Herp Derp Browser Extension
OK, so let me break it down: YouTube comments are widely considered some of the WORST comments online. It often seems YouTubers’ singular goal is to be as abhorrent as humanly possible.
Developer Tanner Stokes decided to create a browser extension that will translate the hateful, asinine comments into various strings of “herp derp.” It sounds silly, but that’s because it is.

Stokes writes, “I loathe YouTube comments. Here’s a simple browser extension to convert them to herp derp. If you insist on reading the original (which is highly discouraged), click the comment.”
The Herp Derp extension is available for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera browsers, and it is guaranteed to make your YouTube experience a more positive one.
